IDG's Computerworld Names Paychex to 2011 List of Best Places to Work in Information Technology

Seventh straight year on the list for payroll and human resource services provider

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Paychex, Inc., a leading provider of payroll, human resource, and benefits outsourcing solutions for small- to medium-sized businesses, was named to Computerworld magazine's 2011 list of the top 100 Best Places to Work in IT. The honor is given to organizations that challenge their IT staffs while providing great benefits and compensation. This marks the company's seventh consecutive appearance on the list, ranking number 77, up from number 89 last year.

"Paychex is a place where our IT employees can be excited about coming to work each day," said Daniel A. Canzano, Paychex vice president of operations and support. "They're challenged to develop creative IT solutions to our 564,000 clients and 12,000 employees nationwide, in a supportive environment that's rich in camaraderie and opportunities for growth."

Paychex ranked #3 on the list for the number of training days offered its employees (an average of 15 days a year), and ranked #12 overall in the percentage of IT staff promoted in the past year (19%). The company's low IT turnover percentage (4%) ranked #23 among the Top 100 companies on the list. In its employer profile of Paychex, Computerworld cited a number of reasons why IT professionals would want to work at Paychex: the community-minded spirit of IT employees, who regularly find creative ways to help those less fortunate; team-building activities such as friendly kickball tournaments; and a robust wellness program that is actively embraced by IT employees.

"To be among the Best Places to Work in IT, it's not enough to seek out and hire the most talented IT professionals, offer them competitive pay, and provide great benefits," said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. "Smart IT people realize that they need to get up to speed on their employer's revenue opportunities. The organizations that made this year's Best Places to Work list are creating a work environment that both trains and encourages IT personnel to pursue business-driven priorities."

"Our employees know they are contributing to business-critical goals," said Michael E. Gioja, Paychex vice president of product management and development. "Our payroll and HR products and services are fueled by our development infrastructure, so our people play a big part in helping our small business clients take care of business."
