IDG's Computerworld Names Paychex to 2010 List of Best Places to Work in Information Technology

Sixth year on the list for leading payroll and human resource services provider

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Paychex, Inc., a leading provider of payroll, human resource, and benefits outsourcing solutions for small- to medium-sized businesses, has been selected by IDG's Computerworld as a 2010 Best Places to Work in IT honoree. The award is given to organizations that challenge their IT staff while providing great benefits and compensation. Paychex ranked number 89, marking the company's sixth consecutive year on the list.

"We take great pride in making Paychex a place where people are energized and excited to come to work every day," said Daniel A. Canzano, Paychex vice president of information technology. "Our IT professionals work on challenging projects while enjoying a workplace that's supportive and friendly. Our six-time recognition by Computerworld reflects the importance we place on making sure our IT people can grow and thrive, while relying on an excellent benefits package."

Paychex ranked #4 on the list for the number of training days offered its employees (an average of 14 days per year), and ranked #10 overall in the percentage of IT staff promoted in the past year (16%). In its employer profile of Paychex, Computerworld cited the caring spirit of IT employees, who hold an annual charity poker tournament to raise money for breast cancer research; adopt families during the holidays to shower them with food, gifts, and refurbished PCs; and help top students at inner-city schools stay motivated by helping them open and run a school store. The Paychex wellness program was also cited, with IT employees actively participating in efforts to get and stay healthy.

"To be among the Best Places to Work in IT, it's not enough just to seek out and hire the most talented IT people, offer them competitive pay, and provide great benefits," said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. "The organizations that made this year's Best Places to Work list sustain a dynamic work environment in which IT professionals keep their hands on the latest technologies and work on projects that are business critical."

"Indeed, the Paychex IT team participates on a strategic level in projects that impact the company's future continued success," said Michael E. Gioja, Paychex vice president corporate product management and development. "This gives them an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in a fast-paced environment driven by aggressive goals."
